Governess Charlotte Markham steps in to care for the two young Darrow boys when their nanny is found gruesomely murdered. During an outing in the forest, Charlotte and the children stumble upon an otherwordly realm known as The Ending: the place for the Things That Cannot Die. Here lies the ominous House of Darkling, a wondrous, dangerous place filled with magic, darkness and strange creatures that are not quite human.
